History

St John’s Lutheran School has a long and impressive history as a ministry of St John’s Lutheran Church. Dating back into the 1800s, we know that providing a Christian education was important to the members of the congregation and community. St John’s Congregation continues to provide the bulk of the resources necessary for maintaining and expanding the educational program for the children of the congregation and community.

From the early days when pastors served as teachers until today with a staff of nearly 30 professional educators, assistants and care workers, the curriculum at St John’s has been based in the Word of God and the message of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of all.

As the years have moved into decades, additions to the program and curriculum have included: the Early Childhood Education program, Infant and Toddler program, Care offered before and after school, Spanish, Computer education, departmentalization for Grade 6, 7, 8, new extra curricular activities, hot lunch program, and the Lutheran Special School Resource Room.

Most recently St John’s has stepped forward boldly by expanding the school facilities with two large additions the most recent completed in 2002. That addition included eight new classrooms and modifications to the existing facilities. The additional facilities have enable St John’s to continue to serve more families with infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Current enrollment for the entire program is 182 students.

St John’s is served by many qualified and experienced individuals. Our teaching staff has nearly 250 years of experience in Christian schools and classrooms. Many of the assistants and care workers are also have extensive experience working with children of many ages.

St John’s also has a strong working relationship with Concordia University Wisconsin. Many of the Concordia students do pre-professional work at St John’s. In addition we also host several student teachers during each school year. Our relationship with Concordia students has proven to be a valuable experience for the Concordia students, the St John’s students, and the staff at St John’s.

God has blessed the program of Christian education in many and special ways. We are confident that our Lord will continue to bless St John’s in the years to come as we continue to grow and develop our educational program.
