Volunteer Pledge Form

Our St. John’s , Our Responsibility, Our Plan, Our Action

St. John’s Mission Statement:

A family of believers living God’s Word, inviting all to a personal relationship with Jesus and His church, teaching, caring,  and sharing His love throughout the world.

That sounds like the criteria at St. John’s for being a volunteer.  We are a family, one that teaches, cares, shares, invites, and lives as God’s faithful servants.  At St. John’s we believe that parent-teacher-school-church-community involvement is vital for our children’s growth and development.  Involved parents are the link for more well rounded students and a caring school environment.

St. John’s wants to promote parent involvement through a program called 4 for the Lord.  We expect parents to give at least 4 hours of commitment to our school each semester.  Hours will be logged and when the four hours are fulfilled, parents will be recognized.  (You can always volunteer more hours if you like J).

 Benefits of Volunteering:

1.      Research shows that parent involvement in schools improves student achievement.

2.      Involved family members become more effective parents.

3.      It is a great opportunity to get to know more parents.

4.      It is fun!!! J

Expectations of Volunteers…… It is simple:

1.      Be honest.

2.      Be an active listener with the students.

3.      Show respect toward others.

4.      Show respect toward our Lord.

 Additional information:

·        When volunteering during the school day, please register in the office and get your cool badge to wear.

·        When volunteering at big school functions, please look for the green sheets to record your hours. (There will be green sheets in the office as well).

·        Don’t feel limited to the list of volunteer opportunities…Come up with your own ideas.

·        It would be helpful for you to be familiar with St. John’s School Handbook and the Crisis Intervention and Safety Management Handbook (located in the office) in case of emergencies.

·        Parking:  If you are volunteering during the school day, please park on the south side of the church except for the first three rows on the east side of the parking lot.  Thanks!  It leaves the spaces open in front for visitors.
